The Archetype Grid. Thirty-two ways of being a person.

An archetype is not a personality type. It is a pattern that runs through people rather than belonging to one — the Hero, the Lover, the Trickster, the Orphan — available long before you arrived and in no way yours alone.

They are grouped here by what each one is trying to secure: order, belonging, mastery or freedom. Every archetype is a strategy for staying safe, and the four are the four strategies there are.

The grid is ordered by one thing only: how readily you would claim it. At the top are the ones you would put on your own profile. At the bottom are the ones you would deny under oath.

The top is not the good end and the bottom is not the bad end. The ones you claim run you hardest, because you never question them. The ones you deny did not go away when you refused them — they only started running without you.
